The need for a streamlined, quality-assured training course on sustainable procurement has long since been recognised in both central and local government. Defra has responded to this need and has commissioned the development and delivery of a training package specifically tailored to meet the needs of local authority procurement professionals. This is intended to help drive innovation and contribute to the efficiency agenda, in ways that drive up the quality of Sustainable Community Strategy, Local Area Agreement and wellbeing outcomes.

Defra has agreed to cover the costs of the delivery of this package in six regions for this important high profile launch of this programme.
